How to Read This Tender
- 1Read the ‘Scope of Work’ section carefully – it lists the exact outcomes the Council expects (independence, wellbeing, safety).
- 2Check the ‘Evaluation Criteria’ for weighting – many social‑value and outcome‑based scores are common in health contracts.
- 3Look for mandatory compliance clauses (e.g., Care Act 2014, data protection, DBS checks) and note any required certifications.
- 4Pay attention to the timeline: start date, contract length and any extension options affect pricing and resource planning.
- 5Identify any deliverable‑based milestones (e.g., quarterly reports, service user surveys) to ensure you can meet them.
Tips for Small Businesses
- Partner with a local stroke charity or NHS community team to strengthen your bid and share expertise.
- Highlight any social‑value initiatives (e.g., employing local residents, volunteering opportunities) as they often carry extra points.
- If capacity is a concern, propose a consortium or subcontractors for specialised tasks such as physiotherapy or mental‑health support.
