The 45 CPV divisions

Each division opens into groups, classes and categories. A notice usually carries one main code and a few extra ones, so a tender can count under more than one division.

Reading a CPV code

A code has eight digits and a check digit after the dash: 45210000-2. The first two digits are the division (45, construction work), the third the group (452), the fourth the class (4521) and the fifth the category (45211). Codes ending in zeros sit higher up the tree. The check digit only guards against typing errors.
