Overview
Title: SS1420 Community, Mental Health and Wellbeing Service Summary: Kent County Council (KCC) is the largest county council in England covering an area of 3,500 square kilometres. It has an annual expenditure of over ??900m on goods and services and a population of 1.3m.
The Council provides a wide range of personal and strategic services on behalf of its residents, operating in partnership with 12 district councils and 289 parish/town councils. Kent County Council(KCC) and Kent Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG's) are responsible for providing community prevention and early intervention services for mental health, recovery and wellbeing.
These services are universal and provide support for individuals living in the community with a diagnosed severe mental health problem and for those experiencing common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. KCC and the CCG's are working together to develop an integrated Community Mental Health and Wellbeing service.
Additional details
This service will ensure compliance with statutory responsibilities and offer a consistent and equitable service across Kent (excluding Medway). The model sits outside of secondary mental health services and will form a key part of an integrated pathway across the voluntary sector, primary care mental health and social care and include public health initiatives to ensure there is appropriate, equitable, timely and cost effective interventions for vulnerable people in the community.
Key aims of the service are to; aid recovery and prevent relapse, improve health and social care outcomes for individuals with poor mental health and wellbeing, prevent suicide and reduce the stigma of mental illness. A public consultation is currently taking place to gain views of key stakeholders.
The response from this consultation and additional feedback gathered through our market engagement, will inform the final service design. Please refer to the 'SS1420 Community, Mental Health and Wellbeing Service Outcomes' document and the 'SS1420 Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Additional Information' document which are attached for further information.
