Overview
Leicester City Council (the Authority) invites Tenders for the provision of consultancy services to provide a full package of engineering design drawings for the roads within the THI area. The proposed Contract will be for 26 weeks and it is anticipated to be awarded to a single Supplier.
The objectives of the project are to respect and reinforce the historic character of the area by: ? The use of appropriate materials in terms of quality and price. ?
Providing training opportunities in traditional materials and conservation skills. ? Retain/repairing surviving townscape elements. ?
Submission
All tenders must be uploaded via Due North and returned before the deadline of 12:00hrs (noon) on Tuesday 5th January 2016.
Additional details
Calming traffic through the use of specific materials rather than through a plethora of signs, as highlighted in Appendices 2 & 3. ? Careful use of materials to complement the surrounding areas such as the Cathedral, its environs and Jubilee Square.
It is envisaged that works during the lifetime of the THI project will bring the following benefits to Greyfriars Old Town: ? Enhance identity and civic pride. ?
Attract more visitors. ? Increase income in the city centre. ?
