Overview
This contract will explore the potential benefits of providers of mental health inpatient beds assuming control for commissioning budgets - giving them the incentive and responsibility to improve care across the whole pathway to improve access to community support, prevent avoidable admissions, reduce the length of in-patient stays and eliminate inappropriate out of area placements, and encourage recovery. As the New Care Model (NCM) programme progresses, NHS England wishes to commission a review of this programme in order to formally evaluate outcomes.
