Overview
Southend Borough Council (the Council) is currently in the process of producing a new Local Plan for Southend which will contain the overall vision for the Borough and put in place a new strategy for delivering growth and regeneration that meets the needs of local people. The first stage will be an Issues (and Options) consultation, anticipated in summer 2017 .
This document will set out strategic issues that need to be addressed in the context of existing policy and evidence, in order to seek the views of key stakeholders. The next iteration of the plan will be a Preferred Approach document, anticipated for summer 2018.
This will set out options for housing (and employment) figures that the Council may pursue through the Local Plan process. The final stage in the Local Plan process will be the Proposed Submission consultation, anticipated for summer 2019, prior to submission in winter 2019 and its examination in public and subsequent adoption, if the plan is found to be sound.
