Overview
Uttlesford District Council (UDC) is looking for an experienced Building Contractor to remodel a poorly designed Sheltered Housing Scheme, comprising 26 x 1 bedroom flats (owned by the Council) and to provide a modest two storey extension. The site is located to the east of Saffron Walden Town Centre, at the junction of Radwinter Road and Chaters Hill.
The scheme was originally constructed in 1991 and is in part two storeys and three storeys with a pitched roof. The building is occupied by elderly residents, who will remain in situ whilst works are carried out.
Construction will therefore need to be phased, utilising up to five empty properties within the scheme. It is therefore essential that the successful Contractor has experience of working with residents living on site.
