Overview

West Sussex County Council is organising Market Engagement for the requirement of providing a Gambling Lived Experience Action Group. This project will deliver feedback forums with individuals living in West Sussex who are currently experiencing or have recently experienced (within the past three years), gambling-related harm.

This includes people who have gambled themselves, as well as family members or friends affected by someone else’s gambling. Participants may or may not have received formal treatment or support.

These forums will provide information to West Sussex County Council (WSCC) Public Health for a Gambling Harms Needs Assessment. They will help to understand the scale and impact of gambling-related harm and inform the development of a coordinated local prevention response.

Low Complexity

West Sussex County Council wants to set up a Gambling Lived Experience Action Group to run feedback forums with people who have experienced gambling‑related harm. The aim is to gather insights for a public‑health needs assessment and shape future local prevention work. This is a market‑engagement notice, not a formal bid invitation.

Requirements

  • Ability to organise and facilitate feedback forums with individuals who have experienced gambling‑related harm (including gamblers, family members and friends)
  • Experience or knowledge of gambling harm, public health or community engagement work
  • Capability to produce a concise summary report for the WSCC Public Health team
  • Willingness to request the draft specification and complete the market‑engagement questionnaire via email
  • Optional: Registration on the WSCC e‑Tendering portal (no commitment to bid)

Key Tasks & Deliverables

  • Plan and run a series of feedback forums with participants living in West Sussex who have experienced gambling‑related harm
  • Collect qualitative data on the scale and impact of gambling harm from participants
  • Analyse the forum findings and prepare a report to inform WSCC’s Gambling Harms Needs Assessment
  • Provide recommendations that will help shape a coordinated local prevention response

How to Read This Tender

  • 1Look for the purpose of the notice – it is a market‑engagement exercise, so you are not expected to submit a full bid yet
  • 2Note the request‑for‑information step: you must email for the draft specification and complete the questionnaire before any formal tender is issued
  • 3Pay attention to the wording ‘no commitment to bid’ – you can participate to influence the final specification without obligating your business
  • 4Check the deadline for the questionnaire (if given) and keep a copy of all correspondence for future reference
  • 5Treat the feedback‑forum delivery as a service, not a product – be ready to describe your facilitation methodology and reporting approach

Tips for Small Businesses

  • Use this engagement to showcase any niche expertise you have in gambling‑harm support – it can give you an edge when the formal tender is released
  • Consider partnering with a local charity or support group to strengthen your community‑engagement credentials and share costs
  • Register on the WSCC e‑Tendering portal now; even if you don’t bid this time, you’ll receive alerts for future opportunities
