Full Description
Aims and Objectives of the Project
This document invites tenders to explore indications, direction and trajectory of change in the research environment that may affect our understanding of the following questions in the context of research assessment nationally
- Why do we assess research?
- What are we assessing?
- How are we assessing
This study is a general exploration of the research landscape and is not an assessment of REF2021, part of its development or evaluation. It is also not intended to develop options for a future assessment exercise but to identify trends and trajectories of development that should inform our understanding of research assessment more generally.
This study will look to identify where change is happening in the research landscape that should inform how national research assessment is understood and the likely progression of that change over a 5 to 10 year period.
The work does not require the contractor to collect evidence specifically related to other assessment systems. Project CR18142 (International Landscape Study: An Exploration of International Research and Innovation Systems) is considering the following questions
- What is the range of research assessment approaches deployed by research active nations?
- What is the relationship between a nation's research assessment approach and funding?
- How are the approaches developed and evaluated?
The successful contractor will be required to consider relevant information produced by this work but will not be required to consider these questions.
This Project was advertised against Lot of the BIS Research & Evaluation Framework CR150025.
