NHS Thames Valley (the Commissioner) is publishing this notice to inform the market of its intention to follow the Most Suitable Provider (MSP) process for the award of a contract for a Women's Health Hub for Berkshire West (Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire). The service will provide a women's health service that is accessible (out of hospital) with shorter waits and high-quality evidence-based care for women in Berkshire West.
The Commissioner has a strong preference for providers that can demonstrate existing relationships with primary care, community services in West Berkshire and RBFT. Providers who believe they are capable of delivering this service are invited to express their interest within 14 days of publication of this notice.
The Commissioner will not begin identifying or assessing potential providers until after this period, in accordance with the Provider Selection Regime The contract duration is 30-months, and the anticipated service commencement date is October 2026. The contract value is £2,523,262 excluding VAT This exercise is being carried out by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioner.

The service will provide a women's health service that is accessible (out of hospital) with shorter waits and high-quality evidence-based care for women in Berkshire West.
Initially it will provide treatment for menopause, heavy menstrual bleeding and pelvic floor health. Pessary and IUS fitting will also be available as required as part of a management option.
The service will be delivered from a number of sites within the Berkshire West Locality. RBFT will support the service in terms of clinical governance, involvement in MDTs and the provision of ultrasound.
The model includes proactive outreach to underserved and marginalised populations to address health inequalities. It will operate as an integrated intermediate model using a predominantly but not exclusively GP and nurse workforce, They will provide: • A service to the Berkshire West footprint. • Central triage and assessment working with RBFT. • Advice and guidance working with RBFT. • Community management of clinically appropriate lower complexity • Conditions. • Outreach to women in underserved communities and marginalised populations. • Onward escalation to secondary care where clinically required. • Integration with patients' GP record where possible.
The contract duration is 30-months, and the anticipated service commencement date is October 2026. The contract value is £2,523,262 excluding VAT TUPE is unlikely to apply to this procurement.
