Overview
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council are investigating the opportunity for a Low Carbon Energy Network in Solihull Town Centre. A groundwater investigation consent is being sought via the Environment Agency for a trial borehole.
This borehole will access water from the sandstone aquifer beneath an area of the town centre and test suitability for use in an open loop ground source heat pump system. The Council will be procuring a drilling contractor to support the construction and testing of the trial borehole.
The tender process will run for two weeks from the middle of October and contractors will be appointed to deliver the works November to January according to an agreed programme. The Council will be seeking contractors who can demonstrate that they have the relevant experience and personnel for drilling deep groundwater abstraction boreholes.
