Overview
The Secretary of State for the Home Department, acting through the Asylum & Family Policy Unit within Borders, Immigration and Citizenship System (BICS) and Crime Police and Fire Group (CPFG), intends to make an amount up to £1,400,000 of grant funding ("Funding") available. The Funding is to provide a support net for migrant victims of domestic abuse who do not have recourse to public funds and do not qualify to access a bed space in a refuge or another means of safe accommodation.
This will operate throughout the United Kingdom and the funding will be via a Grant Agreement from date of signature until 31 March 2022, but the Home Office will consider backdating eligible expenditure to 15 December 2020. The Funding is to be awarded through a fair, open and transparent competition by means of a Call for Proposals and will seek to provide protection and recovery for migrant victims of domestic abuse and their children.
It will also aim to provide a positive impact for victims accessing safe accommodation when they are in need of emergency support to escape an abusive relationship. It will look to provide victims with a period of respite during which time they can get help to make decisions about how to secure the best outcome for their ongoing safety.
