Overview
Hilltop Food Group operates a honey bottling/packaging line- at approximately 9,000 bottles per hour. The Contracting Authority requires the supply, delivery and installation of inspection, rejection and product-transfer equipment across these lines, comprising: 1.
Metal detection zone conveyor improvements: modification of conveyor and product-handling equipment in the vicinity of the existing metal detection and rejection zone, to eliminate trip points and reduce jamming, and to improve reliable handling and ejection of non-conforming product. Note: replacement of the metal detection unit itself is not included in this scope — only the surrounding conveyor/handling equipment and reject mechanism. 2b.
Metal detection reject mechanism replacement: supply and installation of a new stand-alone in-line reject mechanism for the existing metal detection system, including variable speed operation, to replace the current reject mechanism and improve reliability. This includes any conveyor and product-handling modifications needed to accommodate the new mechanism.

Fill-level/weight inspection: a non-contact fill-level or weight verification system (e.g. laser-based fill-height sensing, checkweighing, or equivalent technology) capable of detecting underfill and overfill conditions in line with UK Average Contents (Weights and Measures) legislation, integrated with the existing packaging line control and reject systems. 2a.
Additional details
The existing metal detector unit itself is not being replaced — only the reject/handling mechanism around it. 3. Label inspection and rejection: an automatic label presence, placement, barcode verification and/or date-code verification system, with an associated in-line reject mechanism and any necessary conveyor modifications. 4.
Case/outer-pack inspection and rejection): barcode and shrink-wrap presence verification with an associated in-line reject mechanism and conveyor modification, suitable for six-pack shrink-wrapped cases. 5. Conveyor product transfers: replacement of existing product transfer points with low-jam, active transfer conveyor technology suitable for small/lightweight glass and plastic containers (e.g. approx. 340g bottles).
All equipment must be suitable for installation and operation in a food production/bottling environment, must integrate with the Contracting Authority's existing packaging line control and rejection systems, and must not obstruct or foul existing machine guarding. A site survey will be available to bidders prior to tender submission to confirm exact integration requirements, existing conveyor dimensions and control system interfaces.
