Overview
The most significant demographic change in St Helens in the next two decades will be the increasing number of older people. This will have an impact on health and social care services such as carers, respite provision and for Bidders of long term health conditions such as COPD and dementia.
It is recognised that older people have a wealth of skills, experience and knowledge that they have amassed over their lifetime. As part of integrated Health and Social Care commitment to engagement and consultation and the CCG Engagement Strategy, the views of older people across St Helens are important.
This will ensure services are meeting local need and to identify unmet need and assess quality as part of the service review framework within commissioning. The St Helens Older Peoples Forum will provide a collective voice for older people in St Helens and will seek to influence and encourage the development of services which improve the quality of life of all older people in the borough.
