Overview
TITLE Social Media Management Platform Ref SMBC 26061 The Communications team began using a social media management tool in 2024 as part of broader changes to the way the team works. A social media management tool enables the council to: • Understand what audiences and topics involving the council are trending on social media platforms • Listen proactively to understand reputational issues and risks, and then go on to strategically plan content and campaigns to ensure the council’s communications function supports the delivery of the council’s strategic objectives and helps boost reputation to aid with recruitment of staff and improved customer experience • Utilise marketing reports and analytics functions that are not available on native platforms to understand engagement across all channels • Measure the impact of campaigns and test messaging to understand what resonates with citizens across each channel • Regularly analyse data to make informed strategic decisions and identify opportunities to drive revenue for the council In the long term, as a part of the council's customer journey planning, a social media management tool will allow for social media data to sit alongside other customer service channels to join up data and provide a holistic view of customer feedback and satisfaction levels.
This will support the council’s corporate priorities linked to the Customer Journey programme.
