Full Description
Proposed works to cleanse the SEW Attenuation Pond in accordance with the Specification and contract documentation to include:
The extent of the Site and the principal constraints are identified on the Contract Drawings and within the Pre-Construction Information and Site Information.
(b) The objective of the Works is to remove the accumulated sediment from the attenuation pond and restore the pond to its original design storage capacity.
(c) The Works include, but are not limited to
- establishment of safe access and egress, temporary working areas, traffic management, ground protection and Site security;
- temporary removal and subsequent reinstatement of existing permanent fencing and gates where required for access;
- vegetation clearance and coppicing only as identified on the Contract Drawings, together with protection of retained trees and vegetation;
- removal of Reedmace and associated rhizomes from the pond;
- temporary water management necessary to undertake the Works while maintaining pollution prevention and ecological controls;
- removal of accumulated silt and sediment to the design pond-bed level of 144.5 m AOD, subject to the requirements of Clause 3.1;
- temporary storage and dewatering of removed sediment and its treatment on Site before off-Site removal;
- sampling, verification, transport and lawful disposal of treated sediment and all other waste arising from the Works;
- protection of the pond formation, any existing pond liner, inlet and outlet structures, embankments, drainage apparatus and other existing assets;
- reinstatement of all areas affected by the Works, including fencing, access routes, unpaved land and any affected highway surface; and
- completion surveys, records and photographs demonstrating compliance with the Scope.
(d) The detailed construction methodology is the responsibility of the Contractor. The requirements of this Specification define the required outcomes and constraints and do not prescribe the means by which the Contractor is to achieve them.
(e) No new pond liner, permanent alteration to the existing pond drainage system, or permanent highway construction is included in the Scope unless instructed in accordance with the Conditions of Contract.
