How to Read This Tender
- 1Read the list of disciplines carefully – each one represents a separate specialist service that may be required
- 2Note that full specifications are only provided to shortlisted suppliers, so your expression of interest should focus on proven capability in the listed areas
- 3The notice indicates the JV may split the work across multiple suppliers – consider whether you can offer a single discipline or a package of related services
- 4Check for any mandatory certifications or accreditations for each discipline in the detailed documents (e.g., Chartered Ecologist, ISO 14001)
- 5Watch out for the requirement to assess your own capacity – over‑promising can lead to disqualification
Tips for Small Businesses
- Form a consortium with other SMEs to cover multiple disciplines and meet the breadth of the scope
- Highlight any social value contributions (e.g., local employment, apprenticeships) as HS2 places strong emphasis on community benefits
- Leverage subcontracting to partner with larger firms for any gaps in capacity while retaining a lead role in your core specialty
