Reconfiguration and Refurbishment of Tylorstown Welfare Hall and Institute

The client is seeking the involvement of a Main Contractor to carry out the transformational re-development of the Grade II listed hall. Steeped in local heritage and civic pride, the Hall has been a cornerstone of life in Tylorstown for over 90 years, and is the last remaining building of it’s kind in the Rhondda Fach.

The building has an Edwardian Baroque front façade and is set within a tight footprint on a challenging steep slope. It extends over 5 floors and incorporates a basement, institute, below stage, hall, balcony and projector room. The external and internal refurbishment works will make the building safe, welcoming, and fully accessible with an upgraded performance space, cinema, dedicated youth and community spaces, re-developed café / bar area, alongside significant energy efficiency measures.
