Overview
Peterborough City Council is seeking to appoint a suitably experienced consultant to undertake a cemetery site feasibility assessment and strategic search for alternative cemetery sites within the Peterborough area. The commission comprises two mandatory workstreams: A detailed geo-environmental, geological, hydrogeological, planning and deliverability assessment of a nominated site; and a comprehensive search, screening and comparative appraisal of alternative sites capable of meeting the Council's future burial needs.
The appointed consultant will assess the suitability of the nominated site for cemetery development, identify any significant constraints, determine the likely extent of usable burial land, and recommend any further investigations required. In parallel, the consultant will undertake an auditable search for alternative sites, applying agreed screening criteria to produce a longlist, shortlist and comparative options appraisal. The commission is intended to provide the Council with a robust evidence base to inform future decisions regarding cemetery provision, including the identification and prioritisation of suitable sites for further investigation, acquisition and development.
