Overview

DN Colleges Group (DNCG) has successfully secured targeted capital investment to deliver a strategic initiative focused on enhancing skills, innovation, and infrastructure across the food and agri-tech sectors. This investment forms part of a broader partnership between DNCG, the UK Food Valley initiative, and the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

The UK Food Valley aims to position Greater Lincolnshire as a global leader in sustainable food production, agricultural innovation, and integrated supply chains. The region is already home to a nationally significant food manufacturing base, and this programme builds on those existing strengths to unlock further growth, inward investment, and workforce development.

As part of this regional initiative, DNCG is developing a new suite of higher education programmes in Food Science, designed to equip learners with the technical knowledge and applied skills required to secure high-quality employment within the agri-food i This Lot covers essential chemistry and analytical instruments required to deliver core modules within the Food Science degree programme.

Additional details

The equipment will support hands-on learning in sample preparation, composition analysis, food chemistry, and testing of food properties such as pH, texture, and moisture. Equipment must be suitable for use by students under supervision and must withstand frequent laboratory use.

This Lot includes a range of small-scale, food-safe dairy processing and analysis equipment to support hands-on delivery of food science modules related to milk treatment, product formulation, dairy microbiology, and compositional analysis. Equipment will allow students to carry out pasteurisation, separation, churning, fermentation, cooling, and testing of milk and dairy products in a controlled teaching environment.

This Lot supports aseptic techniques and cell culture-based analysis within the Food Science curriculum. It includes critical containment and imaging equipment to enable microbial testing, contamination control, and observational work on cell growth, foodborne pathogens, and biofilms.

This equipment is fundamental to modules involving microbiological testing, bioprocessing, food safety, and modern research techniques in food science. This Lot includes advanced scientific instrumentation required to deliver high-level analytical and research-led content within the Food Science degree programme.

These instruments support modules in food chemistry, food safety, molecular biology, quality assurance, and nutritional analysis. The equipment must be suitable for both practical undergraduate teaching and research applications and must meet professional standards for accuracy, sensitivity, throughput, and data analysis.
