LondonWaste Limited (LWL) holds a contract with North London Waste Authority (NLWA) for the treatment and disposal of municipal waste collected by the north London boroughs. Since December 2009, the company has operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of NLWA. LWL delivers waste treatment services to the NLWA primarily via the LWL Energy Centre (an Energy-from-Waste facility) located at the company's EcoPark within the London Borough of Enfield. The Energy Centre has an operating capacity of circa 540,000 tonnes each year and produces circa 100,000 – 110,000 tonnes of Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA) annually as a result of the process. LWL is now seeking Expressions of Interest from organisations able to undertake the following:
- The processing of IBA from the LWL Energy Centre to produce a product of economic value and the onward supply of that product to end-markets.
- The recovery of both ferrous and non-ferrous metals from the IBA to enable the sale of high-quality scrap for recycling.
