Overview
Birmingham City Council is seeking to commission external consultancy to conduct a thorough domestic abuse needs assessment for the city. The needs assessment will form a key part of Birmingham’s evidence-led approach to tackling domestic abuse, providing robust evidence of local need.
The needs assessment should take the form of a well-evidenced written report, supported by a thorough compilation of both qualitative and quantitative data. It should provide a comprehensive and honest picture of the prevalence and response to domestic abuse across agencies within Birmingham, looking at changes over the past three years, expected changes in the next three years and any gaps or needs around new communities in the city.
It must go beyond the duty set out by the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, which only represents the needs of those who require support in domestic abuse safe accommodation. The assessment we require will span across the continuum of domestic abuse, capturing need at prevention, support and crisis stages.
