Overview
The Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG) (the 'Authority'), actively supported by the Royal Institute of British Architects ('RIBA') has concluded a procurement on behalf of the Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission ('GTMC') to secure multi-disciplinary design services from a multi-disciplinary design team (MDDT) to develop the design for the Grenfell Memorial. The lead designer awarded the contract is required to commence design activity at RIBA Stage 0 (Strategic Definition) to enable bereaved, survivors and immediate community to influence the development of design. The design will be iteratively developed under a community-led design process and the RIBA Plan of Work.
The multi-disciplinary design team will be required to deliver a Technical Design that, when accepted, will be constructed by the Grenfell Memorial Main Contractor under a separate contract (to be procured). The design will be developed under a community-led design process that will be influenced and informed by bereaved, survivors and immediate community.
The lead designer will undertake the roles of Principal Designer Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and, Principal Designer (Building Regulations). The lead designer will lead and co-ordinate a multi-disciplinary design team to develop the design of a fitting memorial that will stand the test of time and act as a permanent symbol of remembrance.
