Overview

Low-carbon, sustainable energy generation with Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) is a key priority for the UK and internationally, with significant global opportunities for technology development and commercialisation. With co-funding from the European Regional Development Fund, the University of Sheffield is establishing a flagship national Translational Energy Research Centre.

The Centre will provide a multi-technology, integrated RD&D platform which will bring together a range of energy generation and CCUS facilities. This will promote research and innovation, as well as demonstrate individual and integrated energy systems enabling businesses to evaluate these low carbon / renewable technologies with the purpose of encouraging their uptake.

EQUIPMENT: In order to expand current equipment portfolio, the new centre will have a range of bio-energy, conventional energy (heat and power) and CCUS facilities. We are looking to procure a membrane based CO2 capture system to further enhance our research capabilities.
