Please note that this is not yet a call for competition. The Council has a legal obligation to provide post-mortem (PM) and mortuary facilities under The Coroners and Justice Act (2009) working closely with the Lincolnshire HM Coroner's Service.
Of the deaths reported to the Coroner, approx. 1300 each year require a post mortem, equating to 40% of reportable deaths. The requirement will be to provide post mortems and associated mortuary facilities for: • 1,300 - 2,000 PMs per year (requires flexibility to increase numbers in the event that there are adjustments to the Lincolnshire Coronial Areas) • Histology and Toxicology where required • Provision of PM reports • Swift turn around times to ensure that the deceased are returned to Lincolnshire in a timely fashion.
The Council is seeking views on the feasibility and current capacity and ability to provide a number of services relating to post mortems and mortuary facilities. Suppliers are asked to express their interest in participating in the opportunity.
