Bury Council's Children Young People and Culture Department are looking to commission a single provider who can deliver Information, Advice and Support Services (IASS). The Children and Families Act 2014 requires Local Authorities (LA's) to provide children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) and their parents with information and advice about matters relating to their SEN or disabilities, including matters relating to health and social care.
This information, advice and support in Bury is delivered through the Information, Advice and Support Service (IASS). The Information, Advice and Assessment Support Service (IASS) will deliver impartial information, advice and support to children, young people and parents who have concerns about their child's special educational needs or disability.
This must be in accordance with the SEN Code of Practice (January 2015 https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/send-code-of-p... ) in particular chapters 2, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 and the Information, Advice and Support Services Network (IASS Network) Quality Standards for Impartial Information, Advice and Support Services. The information and advice will support parents and young people to gather, understand and interpret information and apply it to their own situation.
