Additional details
The requirement is to enlarge the existing school to accommodate 1,250 secondary school pupils and 150 'year 6' primary school pupils. This equates to an increase of 290 pupil places over the current capacity of the buildings.
The proposed works at The Portsmouth Academy School can be summarised as follows: o Construction of a three storey steel framed building of approximately 1500 m2 gross internal floor area o Alteration and refurbishment works to the existing school to provide a new student support suite and specialist classroom areas. o Associated external works. o Provision of a two classroom temporary classroom unit for part duration of the contract period. The existing School will remain in use during the period of the works and it is therefore a requirement that contractors are able to demonstrate that they have experience of working within an occupied school site environment on projects of similar value.
