Overview
The main objective of the project is to procure a minimum of 300 fast charging points to meet the projected increase in demand for charging points in the borough over the next two years. The council has been awarded £1.2m for funding new EV charging under the Department for Transport’s LEVI (Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure) scheme.
One of the scheme’s essential requirements to access the funding is for local authorities to form partnerships to purchase at scale and ensure value for money for public funding. The London Borough of Tower Hamlets has partnered with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham to access the LEVI funding.
LBTH is leading on the procurement of EV charging points across two London Boroughs. LEVI Partnership 4 (LP4) is made up of Tower Hamlets and Barking and Dagenham.
