Aylesbury Hangout: Community Youth Club Offer

The Aylesbury Hangout will provide a welcoming, inclusive and safe youth club for young people aged 11 to 19 from the Grange school and surrounding communities on a weekday evening, either Tuesday, Thursday or Friday. The local area includes a diverse population of young people, with The Grange School reporting that almost 25% of pupils are eligible for free school meals, highlighting the need for accessible and affordable opportunities that support positive development, wellbeing and social inclusion.

The Hangout will offer a trusted space of Youthspace Aylesbury, located on the school site, where young people can build friendships, develop confidence and engage in positive social activities outside of school hours. Through a varied programme of recreational, creative, physical and educational opportunities, young people will be encouraged to try new experiences, develop skills and strengthen their connection to their community.

The Grange School serves a diverse and inclusive community and recognises the importance of supporting the whole child, including their wider personal development and wellbeing. A key focus of the provision will be promoting emotional wellbeing, reducing social isolation and providing early support for young people who may be experiencing challenges with confidence, mental health or relationships.

The club will be inclusive, ensuring activities are accessible and responsive to individual needs. The Grange School's emphasis on inclusive support for pupils with SEND further demonstrates the need for community-based opportunities that complement existing support. Through effective promotion, outreach and partnership working with local schools, families and community organisations, the Aylesbury Hangout will become a recognised destination where young people can feel safe, valued and empowered to thrive, whilst accessing positive activities and trusted adult support within their local community.
