Overview
Providers who had previously applied, and been successful for, this service need not apply. The CCG re-opened the existing AQP in order to secure additional capacity across the market. The service is aimed at adults aged 55 and over experiencing difficulties with their hearing and communication where a GP considers they may benefit from hearing assessment and care.
It provides a comprehensive service user-centred direct access hearing service. Lot 2, for Community Micro-suction services is a new requirement which is closely related to the Adult Hearing Service requirement.
The intention of the Commissioner was, therefore, to procure both requirements making use of a single procurement vehicle. The micro-suction service provides community based wax removal services for patients who are aged 18 and above using micro-suction and any other suitable instruments under microscopic or magnified visualisation that would previously have required referral to secondary care but does not require specialist intervention.
