Overview
Stoke-on-Trent City Council with Health are tendering for the delivery of a Carers Support Service to provide early identification, information, advice and tailored support to unpaid carers across the city. The service will focus on improving carers’ health, wellbeing and resilience, enabling them to sustain their caring role. The provider will offer a range of accessible and inclusive support, to include carers’ assessments, wellbeing support, peer networks and effective signposting.
The service will work in partnership with health, social care and voluntary and community sector organisations to ensure a coordinated approach, improve outcomes for carers of all ages, and support prevention and early intervention. It may become necessary modify this contract due to Local Government Reorganisation. Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) is likely to lead to structural changes to local government in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
Although Government policy remains unclear and may change, the current thinking is that LGR could involve the establishment of two or more new unitary authorities in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent to replace the current mix of eight district councils, Staffordshire County Council and Stoke-on-Trent City Council. It is considered likely that the functions currently carried out by Stoke-on-Trent City Council would be transferred to one of these successor unitary authorities, the geographic boundaries of which remain unclear. For further details on these modifications, see: Guidance: Contract Modifications (HTML) - GOV.UK
