Overview
The Council has entered a collaborative partnership with United Welsh Housing Association to develop accommodation to meet the needs of young people aged 16+ and care leavers.Using capital funding from Housing for Care Funding (HCF), United Welsh has acquired 2 properties close to Newport city Centre and has renovated them to provide tailor-made accommodation for a total of 9 young people across both schemes. The Council is looking for a suitably experienced provider to develop a support service to meet the needs of young people to prepare them for leaving care, and to promote their independent living skills as care leavers:• 24/7 Supported Accommodation (4 Beds) to 16-18 year old • Floating Support Service (5 Beds) to 18-25 Supported Accommodation, supporting Care Leavers.Applications are particularly welcome from the voluntary sectors, supporting the elimination of profit in Children Services.
