*This is a Prior Information Notice (PIN)* NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit (AGCSU) on behalf of NHS England – East of England (referred to as the Commissioner) wish to inform the market of a future procurement opportunity for NHS Bowel Cancer Screening in West Essex.
The Commissioner is placing this PIN in relation to a pre market assessment questionnaire regarding the provision of NHS Bowel Cancer Screening in West Essex. This will be used as a conduit to obtain feedback from the market to ascertain market capability and interest in the opportunity.
The Commissioners would like to invite interested providers to register their interest via the Atamis e-tendering portal. Once registered providers will have access to a national service specification and the NHS Bowl Cancer Screening Programme - Schedule 4 and schedule 6 to aid completion of the market assessment questions.
The feedback aims to achieve several critical objectives
- Gain market views on the viability of procuring the services
- Determine length of future contracts,
- Determine a suitable mobilisation period for the services,
- Feedback on the draft Service Specification,
- Feedback on premises solutions,

We would like to encourage providers to review the national service specification and schedules provided in order to inform their responses to the market assessment questionnaire. Please note the deadline for interested providers to complete the early market assessment questionnaire is 10.00am on 2nd June 2026. This notice is purely for providers to express an interest in the opportunity to provide NHS Bowel Cancer Screening in West Essex.
The NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) aims to reduce the incident of and mortality from bowel cancer by delivering a systematic, quality assured population-based screening programme. Bowel Cancer Screening is offered every 2 years to people aged 50 to 74.
