Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking to commission a service to deliver Level 2 oral surgery services in a primary care or community setting, for patients over 16 years of age who live in the counties of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking to commission a service to deliver oral surgery services in a primary care or community setting, for patients over 16 years of age who live in Carmarthenshire It is a priority of the Health Board to provide care for patients closer to home, therefore the location preferences detailed below are designed to deliver potential patient-focused benefits including: Reduced travel time.
Reduced environmental impact In some circumstances, patient choice of location based on factors other than home postcode, such as family or work commitments. Submissions will be scored based on their distance by ready from the Administrative Hub as detailed below Lot one (1) Carmarthenshire Administrative Hub – Carmarthen SA31 1JP Procedures are to include Dento-alveolar surgery including 3rd molar surgery.
Single root apicectomies (if previous conventional endodontic treatment options have been exhausted). Multiple extractions.

Removal of buried roots and impacted teeth. Surgical exposure of unerupted teeth.
Management of supernumerary teeth. Service Aims As part of a Oral Surgery clinical team, provide clinical triage for all referrals, via the all Wales electronic Referral Management Service (e-REM) to ensure patients are managed in accordance with the most appropriate dental care pathway & identify any inappropriate referrals from Primary Care Performers.
Data will be shared with all stakeholders. Undertake a Clinical Assessment of referrals in order to ensure signposting to appropriate services.
Deliver Oral Surgical services for Hywel Dda University Health Board residents (16 yrs and over). Offer patient choice of accessible treatment centres.
Offer an appropriate skill mix for dealing with minor oral surgery procedures under Local Anaesthetic (LA) and/or conscious sedation. Enhance positive working relationships between the Providers, the Health Board and Hospital Dental Services.
